Transpennine Express needed a real-time seat selector application for their website that would let customers book tickets up to 10 minutes before departure. Working to government regulations the project’s delivery was highly time-sensitive, needing to be completed and live by a specific date.
Customer’s needed to be able to reserve seats across devices, including web, mobile and tablet, as well as seeing a real-time picture of seat availability while on the booking system.
We built a web application with a branded front-end, back end and API and proxy application to integrate with internal systems and security. The web application successfully allowed multiple simultaneous users to see a real-time picture of seating availability. Driven by the back-end and API the front-end user interface would instantly change and display this change to the active users as soon as a seat was reserved.
To ensure that the seat selector application fitted in with the look and feel of their existing website, we worked closely within Transpennine’s existing brand guidelines throughout the design and build process. The application also required integration with 3rd party APIs to ensure it worked correctly with their existing booking system.
Our web development experts worked closely with Transpennine to ensure the web application met both client and regulatory needs as a rail operator. As a time sensitive project, we ensured that we had meticulously planned our resource to meet the required deadline.
We continue to support Transpennine on an ongoing basis to provide development support and make functional improvements to the system as needed. We also help manage their server security.
